How Judo-Inspired Classes Teach Seniors to Fall Safely and Confidently

ATLANTA, Ga. (ATL Live) - Falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults, and most resources focus on prevention or medical care after an injury occurs. One class takes a different approach by teaching safer-falling techniques designed to reduce impact.

Matt Scheib, owner of Atlanta Judo Midtown, co-founder of The Falling Class, and an Emmy-nominated stunt performer, demonstrated basic techniques used in judo and stunt training that are adapted for older adults in a padded, low-impact environment.

The program, called Strong & Stable, is designed for active adults over 55 and uses progressive drills to help students understand body positioning and safer ways to absorb impact if a fall happens.
