Kuwaiti authorities have stepped up their efforts to combat unlicensed medical practices and ensure public health safety in cosmetic clinics in Sabah Al-Salem. In a recent raid, personnel from the General Department of Criminal Investigation arrested an Egyptian individual, A.A.A.A., for performing unlicensed cosmetic procedures in an illegally converted clinic.

The cosmetic clinic was hidden within a women's parlor. The suspect, who posed as a cosmetic surgeon, admitted to injecting clients with cosmetic fillers without a valid medical license. During the raid, authorities seized unlicensed medical equipment, cosmetic supplies, injection materials, and a laser device.

The suspect's arrest is not an isolated incident. Three female employees, including one Kenyan and two Egyptians, were also caught offering unauthorized medical and beauty services. Another Egyptian, B.S.M.B., was arrested for supplying illegal clinics with vital cosmetic products and medications. B.S.M.B. funneled the materials through a fraudulently registered company under his name.

B.S.M.B. was a pharmacist at Sabah Al-Salem North Center. The salon's owner, S.H.M.S., is a Kuwaiti citizen with citizenship under Article 8. S.H.M.S. admitted to operating a network of six salons and women's health centers. S.H.M.S.'s employees practiced medicine without supervision, further endangering the public's health.

The Ministry of Interior is committed to this crackdown on unlicensed medical practices. Legal actions are currently underway against both S.H.M.M.S. and B.S.M.B. No further details about the suspects' qualifications or the legal consequences of the arrests were provided in the statement.

Preventing unlicensed medical practices and ensuring public health safety requires a multi-faceted approach. Rigorous law enforcement is essential, with arrests and clinic closures serving as deterrents. Legal and professional education for licensed practitioners is also vital to avoid malpractice.

Public health campaigns and medical check-ups can help raise awareness among employees and the broader community about safe and authorized medical practices. Collaboration between regulatory bodies, medical institutions, and public health organisations can help identify and shut down unlicensed practices.

For instance, the cooperation between Wara Hospital and the National Bank of Kuwait for health awareness and medical examinations can be a model for such collaborations. These combined actions help maintain public health safety in cosmetic clinics in Sabah Al-Salem, Kuwait.
