Increase in Purchase of Pregnancy Testing Kits by 22.8% in Kuban Region
In the first seven months of 2025, the Krasnodar Krai saw a significant increase in the sales of pregnancy tests, with 48.1 million rubles worth of tests sold, according to a report by "Delovaya Gazeta. Yug". This represents a 22.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024, as reported by the analytical company NielsenIQ.
This surge in pregnancy test sales is noteworthy, given the trend of high average age of mothers in the Krasnodar Krai. Scientists from the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Volzhsky Polytechnic Institute, after analysing data on births from 1989 to 2022, concluded that the Krasnodar Krai leads among southern regions of Russia in late motherhood.
The average age of mothers in the Krasnodar Krai is 26 years, the highest indicator among regions of the Southern Federal District. This development is a recent one, as the data analysed goes up to 2022.
Interestingly, the analysis of birth data did not include regions outside of the Southern Federal District, nor did it provide information on the reasons for the high average age of mothers in the Krasnodar Krai.
In 2024, 39.1 million rubles worth of pregnancy tests were sold in the Krasnodar Krai, indicating a substantial increase in 2025. The Krasnodar Krai, therefore, leads among southern regions of Russia not only in late motherhood but also in the sales of pregnancy tests.
This increase in pregnancy test sales and the high average age of mothers in the Krasnodar Krai are significant indicators of demographic trends in the region. Further analysis and research are needed to fully understand these trends and their implications for the future of the Krasnodar Krai.
