India's First Ronald McDonald House Opens in Mumbai to Support Families of Sick Children
India's first Ronald McDonald House has opened in Mumbai, aiming to provide a vital support system for families of children undergoing medical treatment. The House was inaugurated by Advocate Ashish Shelar, the Hon'ble Minister for Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra. Smita Jatia, Chairwoman of Ronald McDonald House India, expressed joy at the opening, highlighting the importance of family support during a child's illness.
The Mumbai House, located near leading hospitals, offers a home away from home for families. It features 16 private rooms and can support over 500 families annually. The facility provides accommodation, meals, transport, counselling, and 24/7 support to ease the burden on families.
Since 2016, Ronald McDonald House India has been supporting families through its Family Rooms in Mumbai and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The organization has a 2030 vision to establish 3 Family Rooms and 5 Houses across 5 cities in India.
The opening of the Mumbai Ronald McDonald House marks a significant step towards providing affordable accommodation and support for families traveling long distances for their children's medical treatment. Advocate Ashish Shelar praised the House for filling a crucial need in the city.
