Authoritative Health Warnings on Dangerous Diet Pills from Internet

The state health authority has issued a warning against health-risking diet pills obtained online. Customs intercepted five such products, which were found to contain active ingredients like Sibutramine and partially Phenolphthalein. These substances have been deprecated due to severe side effects, reported the authority.

The buyers may remain unaware of the health hazards since there is no mandatory declaration. The implicated products were identified as "Royal Slim" or "Slimming Advanced." Residents from Rhineland-Palatinate reportedly ordered them from foreign sources over the internet.

Sibutramine, a once legal drug used against obesity, has long been disapproved due to "serious side effects." Its use can significantly elevate blood pressure and cause heart disease. There is a possibility of dangerous interactions with psychotropic drugs, with fatalities also reported.

Phenolphthalein, another questionable component, was previously removed from the German market due to suspected carcinogenic effects.

The health authority emphasized that the sale of such unauthorized medications is illegal under the Medicines Act, carrying penalties such as imprisonment or fines. These medications should not be available in Germany, they added. Such unapproved drugs may pose severe health risks.

  1. The community policy should include warnings about the risks associated with purchasing diet pills online due to the presence of harmful substances like Sibutramine and Phenolphthalein.
  2. Employment policy in the scientific field should prioritize research on therapies and treatments for chronic diseases and mental health, as well as the study of nutrition, to provide safe alternatives to dangerous diet pills.
  3. In light of the health warnings issued, employment policies in the health and wellness industry should ensure stringent checks and regulation of dietary supplements to protect consumer health.
  4. The employment policy in the customs and border control sector should be reviewed to enhance surveillance and prevent the import of unauthorized and potentially harmful medications, such as those disguised as diet pills.
