Janet Caperna reveals 20-pound weight loss from acute gastritis battle

Janet Caperna has shared details about her recent health struggles after losing nearly 20 pounds in just 12 days. Initially mistaking her symptoms for food poisoning, she was later diagnosed with acute gastritis and ulcerative colitis. The illness left her unable to eat or drink without severe vomiting, forcing her to seek hospital treatment twice.

Caperna first noticed something was wrong when she experienced intense pain and persistent vomiting. Doctors confirmed she was suffering from acute gastritis and ulcerative colitis, not food poisoning as she had assumed. The condition became so severe that she required hospitalisation on two separate occasions.

Before falling ill, she had felt strong and confident. However, she admitted that overindulging in food and alcohol during the holidays may have exacerbated her health equity concerns. Now recovering, she has chosen to regain her health naturally, avoiding weight loss drugs.

On Instagram, Caperna shared that her appearance will likely look unhealthy for months as she works to regain the lost weight. Her husband, Jason Caperna, has been supportive throughout her ordeal.

Caperna’s recovery will take time, and she has opted for a natural approach rather than medical shortcuts. While she continues to heal, her experience highlights the serious impact of acute gastritis and ulcerative colitis. She remains focused on rebuilding her strength and returning to her previous health.
