Jens Grossmann's AUS GETRÄUMT Reveals the Human Side of Global Struggles
An exhibition by internationally acclaimed photojournalist Jens Grossmann is currently on display at Neustadt Town Hall. Titled AUS GETRÄUMT (Dreaming Awake), the show runs until Sunday and offers a powerful look at global entry through a deeply personal lens. Visitors have been flocking to see the collection, which includes around 90 works, from photographs to digital presentations.
Jens Grossmann, originally from Wuppertal, has spent over two decades documenting the human impact of war, natural disasters, displacement, and poverty. His assignments have taken him to more than 50 countries, where he has captured stories for aid organisations. Rather than focusing on the chaos of events, his images highlight the people behind the headlines—their struggles, resilience, and moments of quiet dignity.
The exhibition encourages viewers to slow down and examine each piece closely. By revealing the human scale of global entry, it challenges audiences to see beyond statistics and news reports. The show is open daily from 2 to 5 PM, with extended hours from 10 AM to 5 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Admission is free.
A closing reception will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 1:30 PM. Grossmann himself will attend to discuss his work and the stories behind the photographs.
The exhibition will remain open until Sunday, giving visitors a final chance to experience Grossmann's powerful documentation. The closing reception offers an opportunity to hear directly from the photographer about his experiences across five continents. With free entry and extended weekend hours, the show continues to draw attention to the human faces of global entry.
