Joe Wicks Weighs In on Protein Bars: NAKD, PIP & Nut, and Oreo Grenade

Three protein bars - NAKD Cocoa Hazelnut, PIP & Nut, and Oreo Grenade - have varying ingredients and protein content. Joe Wicks, fitness expert, shares insights on their nutritional value.

NAKD Cocoa Hazelnut Protein Bar offers a simpler profile with dates, peanuts, chicory fiber, and hazelnuts. It contains 7.2g of protein, slightly below the recommended 10g. PIP & Nut bars, launching in Tesco with at least 10g of protein, are made from roasted peanuts, agave syrup, soya protein, and oats. The Oreo Grenade bar, from Grenade Ltd, is the most processed, boasting 21g of protein per 60g. It includes whey protein isolate, emulsifiers, and bovine collagen hydrolysate.

Joe Wicks, known for his fitness programs, warns that these bars often contain ultra-processed foods (UPFs) like emulsifiers and sweeteners. However, he suggests they can be useful in a balanced diet, consumed in moderation.

Protein bars, such as NAKD, PIP & Nut, and Oreo Grenade, cater to different preferences and dietary needs. While some are simpler, others are more processed. Joe Wicks advises occasional consumption as part of a healthy, balanced diet.
