Man stabbed over 70 times: Defendant must be committed to psychiatry - Jordanian Man Ordered to Psychiatric Hospital After 72-Stab Killing

A 50-year-old Jordanian man has been ordered to be confined in a psychiatric hospital after stabbing a 36-year-old man 72 times in the victim's apartment in Constance last January. The defendant, driven by psychosis and delusions, believed killing the victim would free him from his homosexuality and allow him to regain control over his thoughts.

The two men had engaged in sexual activity prior to the attack, with the defendant believing this act gave the victim the ability to read his mind. In a disturbing delusion, the man thought he needed to cut out and consume the victim's liver to regain control over his own thoughts. The prosecution, recognizing the severity of the defendant's mental illness, sought his placement in a psychiatric hospital. The Konstanz Regional Court ruled in favor of the prosecution's request, ordering preventive detention and psychiatric hospitalization.
