Kaiser Permanente, Union to Resume Talks After Successful Strike
Kaiser Permanente has announced plans to resume contract talks with the Alliance of Health Care Unions on October 22 and 23, following a recent five-day strike that ended early on October 19. Despite the strike, the healthcare provider managed to keep its hospitals and clinics operational with the support of doctors, managers, and contracted nurses and staff.
The strike, which began on October 14, saw around 30,000 healthcare workers walk out. However, they returned to work at 7 a.m. on October 19, a day earlier than initially planned. The early end to the strike was likely influenced by ongoing negotiations, although specific details about the negotiation leader for Kaiser Permanente are not yet available.
With the strike now over, Kaiser Permanente and the union will reconvene for further negotiations on October 22 and 23. The outcome of these talks will likely shape the future of labor relations between the healthcare provider and its unionized workers.
