Kazakhstan to Integrate Private Rehab Centers, Boosting Support for 128,000
The Kazakh government is set to establish an interdepartmental Working Group to regulate and integrate private rehabilitation centers into the state system. This move aims to enhance the legality and effectiveness of rehabilitation programs, benefiting over 128,000 individuals struggling with alcohol and drug dependencies, including 173 children.
The proposal includes mandatory licensing of all private rehabilitation centers, ensuring a unified state approach to monitoring services. An open database of licensed institutions will be created for transparency. Additionally, employment, vocational training, and job support programs will be expanded to include individuals who have undergone rehabilitation.
To prevent dependencies, the government plans to expand dynamic and consultative observation programs, as well as Youth Health Centers. As of March 1, 2025, over 109,000 people were under dynamic observation for mental and behavioral disorders related to substance use. The government also aims to develop and approve standards and methodological guidelines for social and psychological rehabilitation.
The Kazakh government's initiative seeks to strengthen the rehabilitation system, ensuring better support for those battling dependencies. By integrating private centers, improving licensing, and expanding preventive measures, the government hopes to enhance the quality of life for those affected and promote a healthier society.
