Lightning’s Hockey Talks Night unites fans for mental health awareness

The Tampa Bay Lightning will host Hockey Talks Night on January 20, 2026, as they face off against the San Jose Sharks. This main event is dedicated to raising mental health awareness and supporting local initiatives. Fans will have numerous opportunities to participate and show their support throughout the evening.

The evening will honour 230 guests from local mental health organizations, recognizing their contributions during the game. Two students will also receive the annual McKenna Brown Scholarship, awarded to those who embody McKenna’s compassion and commitment.

Fans can take part by writing messages on Hockey Talks Cards and nominating others for special surprises. Custom jerseys and mystery pucks, designed by local artist Jared Wright, will be available for purchase. His artwork incorporates symbols of resilience and hope, adding a meaningful touch to the event. Tampa Bay Buccaneers forward Nick Paul will contribute through his Points by Paul initiative. For every point he scores, $150 will go to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Slide Insurance has pledged to match each donation, doubling the impact.

The event brings together players, fans, and local organizations to support mental health causes. Funds raised will directly benefit Tampa Bay’s mental health services. The Lightning’s initiative highlights the importance of community involvement in addressing mental wellness.
