Lone figures need not feel isolation. The cloaked figure known as The Invisible Man.
In the heart of a bustling city, nestled within a residential tower by the river, freelance graphic designer Damien finds himself in the midst of an unusual predicament. His life, once filled with the rhythm of deadlines and the joy of creation, has taken a turn for the extraordinary.
Damien believes there is an invisible creature or power trying to possess him. This belief, initially met with amusement by his wife Nadia, has evolved through stages of concern and anger as Damien's behaviour becomes increasingly eccentric.
Strange occurrences in Damien's apartment have added fuel to his beliefs. Gurgling and rushing sounds at night, an empty water bottle on the bedside table in the morning, and dark shadows darting across the walls are just a few examples. However, no one else seems to hear or notice these peculiar noises.
The situation in Damien's life is gradually getting out of control. His computer keeps crashing, causing damage to his designs. His colleagues on the phone are pressuring him to complete a festival poster, but he is unable to focus. Worst of all, he neglects his responsibilities, forgetting to pick up his daughter Chloe from school.
This new beginning of working from home is particularly challenging for Damien. His wife, Nadia, has accepted a research position in a small town, and they have moved out of Paris with their daughter. Nadia, concerned about Damien's wellbeing, sends him to a psychotherapist.
Interestingly, the story of Damien's struggles bears a resemblance to the 1887 novella "The Horla" by Guy de Maupassant. However, the film "The Invisible Creature," based on this work, has been transferred to the present day under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film's action unfolds in a high-rise apartment, much like Damien's, with a feminist shaman living in an apartment one floor higher, noisily performing her rituals.
In Damien's building, the plumber Bernier claims that the water connection in his apartment has been botched, and the wastewater is flowing directly into the river. This adds another layer of complexity to Damien's already chaotic life.
As days pass, Damien's nervous wreck condition worsens. The noises in his apartment become an obsession for him, consuming his thoughts and disrupting his peace. It remains to be seen how he will navigate through this labyrinth of strange occurrences and personal turmoil.
Damien, finding solace in the science of psychology, begins to apply various techniques to manage his mental-health, hoping to find a reason behind his unusual experiences. As entertainment, he tries to distract himself by watching movies-and-tv that are unrelated to the supernatural, hoping to create a sense of normalcy in his erratic life. In a bid to balance his health-and-wellness, he starts applying a strict routine that includes exercise and nutrition alongside his therapy sessions.
