Lower Saxony Strengthens Mental Health Support with New Data-Driven Plan

The state government of Lower Saxony has approved a new resolution aimed at improving support for individuals with mental health issues. Titled 'Protecting Individuals with Mental Health: Identifying Risk Factors Through Nationwide Data Exchange', the plan focuses on early risk detection while ensuring strict data protection.

Health Minister Dr. Andreas Philippi stressed the importance of the resolution in addressing emerging challenges. He noted that not all mental health conditions carry an elevated risk but emphasised the need for better help, particularly for those with severe illnesses.

The resolution marks a step toward better mental health support and risk prevention. With stricter data protection in place, the state will work to expand therapy access and strengthen early intervention. Federal reforms remain a key priority for broader implementation.
