From trauma care to compensation, the state stands by victims of the 2024 tragedy. But for many, the road to recovery remains long and painful.

467 Applications for Compensation Following Christmas Market Attack - Magdeburg attack survivors receive ongoing state support one year later

The State Office of Administration continues to support survivors of the Magdeburg Christmas market attack on 20 December 2024. Five people died and over 200 were injured when Taleb Al-Abdulmohsen drove into the crowd. The office now manages medical care, psychotherapy, and compensation claims for those affected.

Since the attack, 781 medical services have been provided to victims. These include diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation, and coverage for funeral expenses. Another 172 individuals received immediate trauma care at specialised outpatient clinics.

The office has processed 467 compensation applications so far. Currently, 64 recipients receive €434 monthly, while one person receives €868. Another 62 approvals are still being reviewed.

Support remains available for those in need. Counselling appointments can be booked through the state's online portal, ensuring ongoing access to psychological and social assistance.

The State Office of Administration remains the central contact for victims seeking help. Medical, financial, and psychological services continue to be provided as needed. Those affected can still apply for support through official channels.
