Man, 30, Detained After Knife Attack on Police in Landshut

A 30-year-old man was detained in a psychiatric hospital after attacking police officers with a knife in Landshut. Three officers were injured but have since been discharged from the hospital.

The man's mother, a dual German-Afghan citizen, had alerted police about her son's severe psychological crisis and aggressive behavior prior to the incident. The attacker, who remains unnamed, was ordered to be detained on grounds of attempted manslaughter. During the confrontation, an officer used their firearm in self-defense. The attacker is now under medical treatment and will be transferred to a specialized clinic. The motive and exact sequence of events are still under investigation by prosecutors and criminal investigators.
