Schanze began his transformation in early 2023, when he tipped the scales at 195 kilos. He faced severe joint issues and needed a rollator to walk. In 2003, a skiing accident had left him with spinal injuries and persistent lower back pain, further complicating his mobility.
He started tirzepatide injections, initially at 15mg, now reduced to 12mg. The medication, costing about €490 and €380 per month respectively, has helped him shed weight significantly. However, Schanze experiences side effects, including loss of taste and aversion to carbohydrates.
Despite his remarkable weight loss, Schanze hasn't yet reached his goal of weighing below 100 kilos. His lower back pain persists, making physical activity challenging.
