Meißen’s preschoolers show progress in health but face language gaps

The Meißen District Health Report has released its latest findings on preschool children’s health and development. Based on school entry medical assessments from 2023/2024, the report covers 2,222 children across medical, social, and educational measures. The results highlight both strengths and areas needing attention before children start school.

The assessments were carried out by the Children and Youth Health Service at two locations: Dresdner Straße 25 and Teichertring 8 in Meißen. Their goal was to spot any support needs and ensure children were ready for school.

The findings provide a detailed snapshot of children’s health and readiness for school in Meißen. High vaccination rates and improved dental health stand out as positives, while language difficulties and weight concerns may require further focus. The data will help shape support services for young children in the district.
