Minister Chouhan Visits MP, Assures Soybean Compensation, Pledges Tuberculosis-Free Sehore

Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Madhya Pradesh on October 6, where he distributed benefits under various government schemes, inspected exhibitions, and visited a health camp. During his visit, he assured farmers of compensation for soybean crop losses and committed to making Sehore district tuberculosis-free.

Chouhan, who visited Vidisha, attended a programme at the Bilkisganj Krishi Upaj Mandi and interacted with farmers and women beneficiaries. He assured farmers that those who suffered heavy losses to soybean crops due to excessive rainfall would be compensated under the crop insurance scheme. He also described the 'Ladli Behna Yojana' as a transformative step for women's welfare, aiming to ensure every woman in self-help groups earns at least Rs 1 lakh annually under the 'Lakhpati Didi' Abhiyan.

A detailed survey will be conducted to assess the damage to soybean crops and ensure timely support for affected farmers. Chouhan urged women attending the health camp to undergo full medical check-ups and assured them of free treatment if any illness was detected. Madhya Pradesh has received 19 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, with surveys ongoing to include more families and ensure no poor family remains in a kutcha house. So far, 500 patients, including 90 pregnant women, have been screened as part of the tuberculosis-free campaign in Sehore district.

Chouhan has also ordered immediate investigations into plum plant diseases in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh and Pratapgarh regions, and pomegranate crop damage in Rajasthan's Balotra region. ICAR scientists will assess the situations. His commitment to farmer welfare, women's empowerment, and health initiatives was evident during his visit to Madhya Pradesh.
