Anok Yai, named Model of the Year by CR Fashion Book in December 2025, has undergone life-saving lung surgery. The procedure followed months of worsening health, as a congenital defect threatened her heart and lungs. Doctors intervened after her symptoms became unbearable.
Yai initially dismissed her declining health, pushing through chronic coughing, sharp chest pain, and breathlessness. But when she began coughing up blood, she sought medical help. Tests revealed a congenital lung defect that had been straining her heart and damaging her lungs for years.
Surgeons performed a robot-assisted operation to correct the issue. The procedure succeeded, and Yai is now recovering. Before her diagnosis, she had continued working despite her deteriorating condition.
The surgery has stabilised Yai’s health, allowing her to focus on recovery. She plans to return to modelling soon, following the successful intervention. Her case highlights the risks of ignoring severe symptoms, even amid a demanding career.
