Motorcyclist speeds through town at nearly 120 km/h - Motorcyclist clocked at 118 km/h in 50 zone faces €1,500 fine
A 21-year-old motorcyclist has been caught speeding at nearly 120 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in Hanau. Police took action after noticing the rider revving his engine loudly and repeatedly. The bike was later impounded due to multiple violations.
The incident began when officers heard the motorcycle's engine roaring unusually loud. The rider had revved it twice in quick succession, drawing immediate attention. Upon checking, police found the bike lacked an exhaust silencer, making it far noisier than allowed.
The motorcyclist was then clocked at 118 km/h in an area where the limit is 50 km/h. When questioned, he admitted he was trying to 'break in the engine' after the bike had been stored for winter. Further inspection revealed the motorcycle's mandatory roadworthiness certificate had expired six months earlier. Authorities have now imposed a €1,500 fine on the rider. He will also receive two penalty points on his licence and a three-month driving ban. The motorcycle remains impounded as part of the penalty.
The case highlights multiple breaches, including excessive speed, noise violations, and an expired inspection. The rider's licence suspension and fine reflect the severity of the offences. No similar incidents involving speeding and technical defects have been recorded in Hanau or Hesse over the past year.
