Nagaon’s frontline workers trained to combat maternal malnutrition in rural Assam
A capacity-building training on maternal nutrition took place in Nagaon district this week. The programme aimed to improve health outcomes for pregnant women and young children across rural areas. Frontline workers received updated knowledge and practical skills to tackle malnutrition more effectively.
The event was jointly organised by Assam Agricultural University, UNICEF, the District Administration, and the Women and Child Development Department. Experts from these organisations led sessions on key topics, including nutrition-sensitive agriculture, dietary diversity, and micronutrient supplementation. Community-based strategies were also discussed to ensure broader impact.
The training equipped local workers with new tools to address maternal health in Nagaon. Organisers expect these efforts to support better health outcomes for vulnerable groups. Follow-up actions will focus on implementing the strategies discussed during the sessions.
