Study: Many Can't Unwind After Work - Nearly half of Saxony workers report job exhaustion and burnout risks

A recent study has revealed that many people in Saxony face high levels of work-related stress. Nearly half of employed residents report feeling exhausted by their jobs. The survey, conducted by Forsa for health insurer TK, also found that a significant number struggle to unwind even during holidays.

The Forsa study, carried out between May and June 2025, polled 1,002 Saxony residents aged 18 and older by phone. It showed that 32 percent say work leaves them with little time for family and friends. Another key finding was that over a third find it hard to fully relax while on vacation.

Many also fail to switch off from work stress in the evenings or on weekends. Teachers, in particular, experience high job strain and difficulty disconnecting during work and free time. Alexander Krauß, head of TK’s Saxony regional office, emphasised the importance of rest for long-term health and productivity. Krauß highlighted that holidays offer a chance to slow down, reconnect with loved ones, and recharge. To help policyholders manage stress, TK provides health courses and wellness apps.

The study underscores the challenges many Saxony workers face in balancing job demands and personal well-being. With nearly half feeling drained by their jobs, the findings point to a need for better stress management. TK continues to support its members through targeted health programmes and digital tools.
