Nick Reiner faces arraignment in parents’ deaths after legal delays
Nick Reiner, the son of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and actress Michele Reiner, was arrested in December 2025 in connection with their deaths. The couple, aged 78 and 70, were found dead in their Los Angeles home. Reiner now faces legal proceedings, with his arraignment set for February 23 after an earlier postponement.
Rob and Michele Reiner’s deaths shocked their family and supporters. Their surviving children, Jake and Romy Reiner, released a statement expressing deep grief and thanks for the public’s kindness. The couple also leave behind Nick Reiner, who has been open about his struggles with mental health and addiction.
Reiner was under a year-long mental health conservatorship until 2021, overseen by licensed fiduciary Steven Baer. Following his arrest, his legal representation changed when Alan Jackson withdrew on January 7, 2026. Public defender Kimberly Greene then took over his case. The arraignment, initially delayed, is now scheduled for Monday, February 23. Reiner has yet to enter a plea, leaving the next steps in the legal process uncertain.
The case will proceed with Greene acting as Reiner’s defence attorney. His arraignment will determine how the trial moves forward. Meanwhile, the family continues to mourn the loss of Rob and Michele Reiner.
