Over 190 Professionals Gather for Child Protection Conference
Over 190 professionals gathered in Neuwied for the 15th network conference, highlighting the importance of child and youth protection. Mayor Peter Jung praised their dedication, emphasising the need for collaboration and strategies to support both children and professionals.
The event, titled 'Maintaining Professional Capability in Challenging Situations', explored systemic possibilities for stress regulation. Anke Wagner from the Institute for Constructive Psychology presented on the significance of early bonding experiences.
Participants exchanged experiences, developed new perspectives, and created joint strategies for long-term support. Network coordinators Franziska Klein and Laura Rockenfeller stressed the need for practical support and stable attachments for socially-emotionally derailed children and young people. They noted that aggression, withdrawal, or overload can challenge families, schools, and professionals, underscoring the importance of secure attachments and clear structures for children's well-being.
The conference aimed to contribute to providing children, young people, and their families with necessary support. Close cooperation between city, county, and local professionals is crucial for tackling child protection challenges together effectively.
