Kraft Heinz is withdrawing over 367,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon due to potential listeria contamination concerns.

Over 367,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon have been withdrawn due to worries regarding listeria contamination.

In a significant move, Kraft Heinz has announced a recall of more than 367,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon, produced between April 24 and June 11, 2025. The recall was issued due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause a serious infection known as listeriosis [1][2][4].

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has been collaborating with Kraft Heinz in this recall, which involves several product packages. The lot codes for the 12-ounce packages are RS40, while for the larger packages, they are RS19, RS40, and RS42. The affected use-by dates for the 12-ounce packages are from July 18 to Aug. 2, and for the larger packages, they are from July 18 to Sept. 4 [3].

The recalled products were shipped to stores across the U.S., British Virgin Islands, and Hong Kong. The recall includes 12-ounce packages with UPC code 071871548601, 36-ounce packages with UPC code 071871548748, and 48-ounce packages with UPC code 071871548793 [1][4].

Kraft Heinz is working diligently with retail partners and distributors to remove the potentially impacted product from circulation. The company advises consumers not to consume the recalled products and to either throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased.

Trader Joe's has also pulled 'Vampire Slayer' cheese curds from shelves in two states, though this recall appears to be unrelated to the Oscar Mayer turkey bacon recall [5].

As of the latest information, no consumer complaints or reports of illness have been received, but the recall is ongoing. It's important to note that, as of Wednesday, no listeriosis cases have been reported that are connected to this incident [3][4].

Listeria monocytogenes can pose a serious health risk, particularly to those with weakened immune systems, older adults, and pregnant women and their newborns. Eating food contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that can lead to severe illness, hospitalization, and, in some cases, death [6].

Consumers are encouraged to check their refrigerators and freezers for the recalled products and follow the instructions provided by Kraft Heinz or the FSIS. For more information, consumers can visit the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls or contact Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations at 1-800-310-3704.
