Pain-relieving ointment sold at Walmart, Target recalled

A popular pain-relieving ointment sold at major US retailers has been recalled over safety concerns. The Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment, made by MiramarLab in Florida, was pulled from shelves after its packaging failed to meet child-resistant standards. The recall affects around 50,330 units distributed by Plantimex and sold nationwide between April 2024 and October 2025.

The recall was officially announced on December 18, 2025, following concerns that the product’s orange jars with white continuous thread lids could be easily opened by children. Only units with UPC 860006498115 are included in the recall. The ointment, which contains lidocaine, poses a poisoning risk if swallowed, potentially leading to serious injury or death.

The product was sold at Walmart and Target for approximately $10. Consumers are advised to immediately store the jars out of children’s reach and contact Plantimex for a free replacement lid. The recalled ointment features the Mamisan trademark on both the lid and label, making it easily identifiable. MiramarLab, based in Doral, Florida, manufactured the ointment, while Plantimex handled its distribution across the US. The recall applies solely to the affected batch, with no other products impacted at this time.

The recall aims to prevent accidental poisoning incidents involving young children. Customers who purchased the ointment can obtain a replacement lid at no cost by reaching out to Plantimex. The company has not reported any injuries linked to the product so far.
