Parent Reiner Calmund relinquishes half of his life for his daughter
In a surprising turn of events, renowned television personality and former football manager Reiner Calmund found himself in the midst of a health scare during the recording of a Vox show in December. Calmund, who lives in Saarlouis, felt dizzy during the session and was promptly taken to a hospital in Cologne.
The hospitalisation saw Calmund undergo a procedure to insert a stent. Following the incident, there has been no official update on his current health status or ability to work. However, RTL, the network for which Calmund was a juror on the TV show "Grill den Henssler", confirmed that he had fully recovered from his hospitalisation.
This health scare comes after a series of personal life updates for Calmund. In an interview with the magazine "Bunte", published earlier this year, Calmund officially confirmed the adoption of his 15-year-old daughter, Nicha, in 2021. The adoption took place after a chance encounter at an orphanage in Thailand, although the specific date and location of the confirmation were not mentioned.
Calmund's decision to adopt Nicha was a result of a deep affection at first sight. In the interview, he described the moment as Nicha looking at him as if saying "What are you waiting for, get on with it!" Nicha initially did not want to leave the side of Calmund's wife, Sylvia.
The adoption marked a significant change in Calmund's life, as he embarked on a journey to lose weight. Prior to his weight loss, Calmund weighed over 180 kilograms, but he has since managed to shed half of his body weight, now weighing 95 kilograms. Calmund attributes his agility and mobility to his weight loss, which was motivated by his desire to spend more years with his adopted daughter, Nicha.
The bond between Calmund and Nicha is evident, as the pair posed together for a magazine spread. Despite the challenges, it seems that the family is thriving, with Calmund now focusing on his recovery and spending quality time with his loved ones.
In addition to these personal updates, it was also announced in March that Calmund would no longer be a juror on "Grill den Henssler". The show, which airs on RTL, did not provide a reason for Calmund's departure.
During his time on the show, Calmund was often seen evaluating dishes, a role that seems to have been a natural fit for the food enthusiast. As Calmund navigates his recovery and continues to adjust to his new role as a father, fans and followers eagerly await updates on his health and future endeavours.
