Perez Hilton's health crisis: How flu medicine nearly cost him his life

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been discharged from hospital after a three-week stay caused by severe complications from medication. His health scare began when he took flu medicine on an empty stomach, leading to a gastric ulcer, perforation and life-threatening sepsis.

Hilton's ordeal started with intense stomach pain that left him unable to walk. He called an ambulance, and doctors later discovered the damage stemmed from taking medication without food. The ulcer worsened, causing a perforation that triggered sepsis.

During his 21-day hospitalisation, he underwent two medical procedures and faced constant tests. A secondary infection also developed, prolonging his recovery. His condition became so critical that his heart required stabilising with additional medication. Though now released, Hilton remains in a weakened state and has not fully regained his strength.

The incident highlights the risks of improper medication use, particularly when taken without food. Hilton's case involved multiple complications, including sepsis and a secondary infection, requiring extended hospital care. Doctors have not confirmed when he will make a complete recovery.
