Pharmagest’s new id.Express Care terminal cuts pharmacy errors in care homes
Pharmagest is expanding its automated pharmacy services with a new terminal designed for care facilities. The id.Express Care system will streamline medication orders for residents while reducing paperwork and errors. A pilot phase is set to launch in the first quarter of this year.
A year after introducing the id.Express terminal for general use, Pharmagest is now rolling out a version tailored for care homes. The id.Express Care terminal lets staff place orders for individual residents while viewing their latest medication plans. It also supports real-time e-prescription transfers, cutting down on phone calls and manual processing.
The system aims to save time for both care workers and pharmacies by removing paperwork and transmission mistakes. Pharmagest plans to connect the terminals directly to its own back-office systems, including its existing Gawis software. Efforts are also underway to integrate the technology with other pharmacy management providers.
Automated order terminals like these are becoming more common, helping supply medicines to areas without local pharmacies. After the pilot, Pharmagest expects to make id.Express Care available in more care homes across the country.
The pilot phase will test the terminal’s efficiency in real-world care settings. If successful, the system could simplify medication management for staff and improve accuracy in prescription handling. Pharmagest intends to expand access once the initial trials are complete.
