Pittsburgh welcomes its first two babies of 2026 with joy and celebration

The first babies of 2026 have arrived in Pittsburgh. Two newborns marked the start of the new year at local hospitals. Both families celebrated the special deliveries on 1 January.

At UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, Fernando and Camila welcomed their daughter, Hellena. She arrived as the first baby born at the facility in 2026. Hellena weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

At Allegheny Health Network’s Forbes Hospital, Rachel and Tyler Solis became parents to Marina Solis. Their daughter was the first newborn of the year at the hospital. Marina weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was also 20 inches long.

The Solis family will receive a year’s supply of free diapers from the Western PA Diaper Bank. The gift aims to support new parents during their baby’s first months.

Both Hellena and Marina arrived within hours of midnight, marking the start of 2026 for their families. Their births were celebrated by hospital staff and loved ones. The newborns join a long tradition of first babies welcomed each year in Pittsburgh.
