Police Verifying Compliance in Bingen: Multiple Elderly Fail To Use Seatbelts, Two Men Found Intoxicated from Illegal Substances
On a sunny Thursday morning, September 17, 2025, the Bingen Police Station launched a focused operation at the Hitchin Street roundabout, as part of the "RoadPOL Safety Days" campaign. The operation aimed to ensure the safety of senior citizens on the roads, and it certainly made its mark.
During the operation, one 54-year-old driver from the Bad Kreuznach district was stopped, as his driver's license had been revoked. The man, who had previously demonstrated disregard for the law, was again deprived of his license. Unfortunately, a specific incident matching this description could not be found in the search results, but repeated cases of driving without a valid license and license revocations have been reported by the police in Bingen in September 2025.
Unauthorized modifications to the 54-year-old's vehicle caused it to lose its operating permit. The police confirmed finding one case of such modifications during the operation.
The operation also uncovered several traffic violations, including eleven drivers not wearing seat belts. Intriguingly, eight of these seat belt violations were committed by drivers over the age of 60. The focus of this campaign was on senior road safety, making these violations all the more concerning.
The police fined these eleven drivers for not wearing seat belts, maintaining the previous total. However, the day was not without more serious infractions. A 57-year-old e-scooter rider was removed from the road, admitting to being under the influence of THC. His THC use was confirmed through a test.
In another instance, a 54-year-old driver showed signs of drug use, which was confirmed to be amphetamines through a roadside test. The police fined two drivers for driving under the influence, bringing the total to three such fines.
The operation, which took place between 10 am and 1 pm, was intended to send a clear message about the importance of road safety, particularly for seniors. The Bingen Police Station reported these findings, reiterating their commitment to keeping the roads safe for all.
