The image shows a group of people standing around a room filled with bags of food. There are people sitting on chairs and some standing on the floor, some of them holding papers in their hands. On the left side of the image there is a wall with windows and posters pasted on it, and a television mounted on the wall. In the background there are doors and a pillar, and at the top of the ceiling there are fans. This image is likely from a Pakistan food bank, as it is a reminder of the importance of food security in Pakistan.

Poshan Pakhwada 2025 targets malnutrition with nationwide nutrition drive

The 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada will run from 8th to 22nd April 2025 as part of the government's ongoing efforts to tackle malnutrition. The campaign, organised under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, will focus on improving the health of women, children, and adolescent girls across rural and urban areas. Activities will include home visits, nutrition camps, and awareness drives to promote better dietary practices. This year's Poshan Pakhwada will highlight key themes such as the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child's life, maternal nutrition, and the use of the Poshan Tracker for self-registration. The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) approach and encourage healthier lifestyles.

The initiative will kick off on 8th April with a webcast led by Savitri Thakur, Minister of State for Women and Child Development. Union Minister Annpurna Devi will later visit Arunachal Pradesh to support local outreach efforts. Targeting pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six, the campaign seeks to strengthen grassroots healthcare. Through community mobilisation, it will educate families on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and holistic nutrition. Local events will take place at village, block, and district levels to ensure wide participation.

The two-week campaign will emphasise early nutrition, digital tracking, and community engagement to reduce malnutrition. By involving local leaders and healthcare workers, the initiative aims to create lasting improvements in maternal and child health. The government's push for broader awareness reflects its commitment to strengthening nutrition outcomes nationwide.
