Trident Group, a reputable textile conglomerate with a global footprint, has set up a 10-day cancer awareness and screening camp at Arun Memorial Cultural Centre, Raikot Road, Barnala. Now in its fourth day, this initiative aims to promote early cancer detection and boost awareness surrounding the disease, empowering participants to spot symptoms and take proactive measures to halts its progression. Led by Trident Group's Chairman Emeritus Rajinder Gupta, this charitable endeavor is facilitated by Trident Humanity Foundation in harmony with World Cancer Care Charitable Society Chairman Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal.
A Decade of Scans and Sensibility 💪
The camp was kicked off by DIG Sukhwant Singh Gill on Monday. The event was graced by Barnala SSP Sarafraz Alam, SP Rajesh Kumar Chhibber, and Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal.
Rupinder Gupta, a Trident official and Barnala Cricket Association secretary, appreciated the guests for their attendance, likening the gathering to a united front against cancer, a disease that has caused incalculable suffering and sorrow. Gupta stated that while the word "cancer" tends to instill dread and apprehension, the occasion represented a pledge to transform fear into hope, anxiety into understanding, and despair into a collective effort.
So far, the camp has registered over 1,980 attendees between Monday and Thursday evening, with women making up a significant 54% (1,064) of the total.
A juggernaut of specialists provides complimentary consultations and education on cancer, blood glucose and pressure checks, mammography for breast cancer screening (for women), pap smear tests for cervical cancer (for women), PSA tests and prostate cancer screening (for men), blood cancer, oral and throat cancer screenings, bone density tests, and eye exams complete with free eyeglasses.
Trident extended its appreciation to local leadership, journalists, and dignitaries for playing a part and urged a broad response for the benefit of those in need.
