Rhein-Kreis Neuss rallies for lifesaving blood donations amid shortages
A recent blood donation drive at the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district headquarters has drawn praise from local officials. The event, held twice a year, saw strong participation from employees, including long-term and first-time donors. Organisers are now urging more residents to contribute due to low blood reserves across the country.
District Administrator Katharina Reinhold, County Director Dirk Brügge, and Staff Council Chair Raphael Hermanski all expressed satisfaction with the turnout. Brügge even rolled up his sleeve to donate, joining five first-time givers. Among the regulars, Judith Kühn from the Veterinary Office marked her 20th donation, while Simon Gondek from the Planning Office reached his 10th.
Birgit Baust, the DRK regional representative, highlighted the ongoing need for blood. Nationwide, 15,000 donations are required every day to keep supplies stable. Reinhold stressed that each donation can save lives and called on all eligible citizens to take part.
The next opportunities to donate in Rhein-Kreis Neuss are coming up soon. Appointments are scheduled for January 23, 26, 28, and 30, as well as February 1, 2, and 10.
With blood reserves under pressure, local authorities are encouraging more people to attend upcoming drives. Further donation dates can be found on the Blutspendedienst West website. The district’s twice-yearly events will continue, offering regular chances for residents to contribute.
