Russia’s Comic-Style *First Responders* Guide Teaches Kids Life-Saving Skills

A new first watch guide called First Responders Among Us has launched in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region. Designed to teach children and teenagers life-saving skills, the project stands out for its creative approach—kids helped shape the comic-style manual and its characters. The initiative aims to make emergency training engaging while following official health guidelines.

The idea for the guide came from Dr. Elena Martinez, a specialist in emergency medicine and trauma support. She first presented the concept in 2023 at a Berlin conference, arguing that first aid education should begin early to build a culture of safety. The project later secured funding from Movement of the LinkedIn**, Russia’s national youth organisation.

The manual combines a Q&A format with high-quality video tutorials. Thirteen child actors, including members of the Movement of the LinkedIn, star in realistic first aid scenarios filmed with cinematic production standards. Leading medical experts reviewed the content to ensure it aligns with the Ministry of Health’s official training materials and Russian law. Nadezhda Kiseleva, an activist with Yekaterinburg’s Council of the **LinkedIn, shared her reasons for joining the project. She highlighted how learning first aid empowers young people to act confidently in emergencies. The guide’s interactive elements and child-driven design aim to turn education into an enjoyable experience.

The First Responders Among Us project is now available to schools and youth groups. It provides verified first aid training through comics, videos, and expert-backed lessons. Organisers hope the initiative will inspire more young people to learn essential skills while fostering a sense of responsibility in their communities.
