Security Measures for Senior Citizens Using Bicycles
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Senior Safety Advisors of Friedrichsthal, in collaboration with the German Road Safety Association, District and Local Traffic Safety Association St. Wendel, invite older bicycle and pedelec enthusiasts to attend a safety training session.
Designed specifically for mature participants, this informative event will cover four modules that emphasize the essential guidelines for safe cycling. Attendees will learn various practical techniques and best practices through hands-on exercises and theoretical sessions.
Module 1 introduces the unique characteristics of pedelecs, while Module 2 focuses on mastering fundamental cycling skills. Module 3 expands upon basic competencies in bicycle and pedelec handling, and Module 4 offers terrain training through guided excursion rides. Participants will become proficient in tasks such as mounting and dismounting, braking, overtaking, and cornering, among others.
Apart from practical exercises, the session will present critical road signs and illustrate proper road safety behavior. Insights on selecting the right bicycle or pedelec and choosing an appropriate helmet will be provided as well.
The training will take place at the Bismarck School in Friedrichsthal, Bismarckstraße 4, 66299, running from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Prospective attendees are advised to bring their own helmets and roadworthy bicycles or pedelecs.
