Smoke Alarm Saves Apartment Diner After Falling Asleep With Stove On
Firefighters and police rushed to an apartment on Musäusring in Jena before 02:00 on Thursday morning following a smoke alarm. Upon arrival, they found no visible smoke but discovered the apartment heavily smoked due to burnt food.
The 22-year-old resident cast, who remains unnamed, had fallen asleep on the couch with the stove on, leading to the food burning and filling the apartment with smoke. Despite no external smoke, the apartment was thoroughly ventilated, making it habitable again. The resident was taken to the hospital with minor injuries from inhaling smoke.
The incident serves as a reminder to always ensure stoves are off before leaving or falling asleep. The apartment is now safe for habitation after the successful ventilation by firefighters.
