South Korean trainee wins top award for protein supplement safety research

A trainee from South Korea’s Research Equipment Specialist Training Program has won a top industry award. Lee Myung-chul received the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the International Research Industry Convention 2025. His project focused on analyzing protein supplements for heavy metal contamination and accurate protein measurement.

Lee Myung-chul, a graduate of the Department of Biotechnology, is currently enrolled in the Research Equipment Specialist Training Program. The initiative, run by the Institute for Standard Analysis in Incheon, prepares engineers with hands-on experience in research instrumentation. Around 80% of its graduates secure employment after completion.

The Minister’s Award recognises Lee Myung-chul’s technical skill and the program’s effectiveness. His research provides a reliable method for testing supplement safety. The Institute for Standard Analysis continues to produce qualified professionals for the scientific and industrial sectors.
