Steinbach, Manitoba Joins Canada's Rural Community Immigration Pilot

Steinbach, Manitoba's third-largest city, is now part of Canada's Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP). This employer-driven pathway to permanent residence (PR) opens doors for foreign nationals with job offers in specific sectors.

Steinbach's RCIP covers a designated area including surrounding rural municipalities and urban districts. It prioritizes five sectors: Health, Education, Sales and Service, Trades and Transport, and Manufacturing and Utilities. Each sector has specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes for eligible jobs.

Foreign nationals can apply for permanent residence with the federal government if they have a job offer and a certificate of recommendation from Steinbach's Economic Development. The RCIP has criteria regarding work experience, language proficiency, educational qualifications, and settlement funds. Job offers must be in approved NOC codes, with limits on recommendations per NOC code and month.

Steinbach's RCIP intake period opens on the first of every month and closes on the 15th or when seven applications are received. Only employers operating in the city's priority sectors can participate as designated employers. This program supports Steinbach's economic needs and labor market demands by enabling immigrants to apply for permanent residence.
