Neuwied District Launches Campaign Against Violence Against Women

The Neuwied District in Germany is taking a stand against violence against women with a project launching on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November 2024. The project, which will run from 15 November to 25 November, aims to raise awareness of violence against women and promote a shift in societal attitudes.

Equal opportunity commissioners in both Kreis and Stadt Neuwied will spearhead the initiative. Large city posters with the slogan "Speak Out - Stand Up Against Violence" will be displayed at 16 locations in the district during the project period.

Landrat Achim Hallerbach, the district's chief executive, supports the project, stating that the equal opportunity office provides a platform to support women in need. Thomas Herschbach, the press spokesperson for the Neuwied District Administration, can be contacted for further information.

Further activities will take place around the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in Stadt and Kreis Neuwied; details can be found on the Neuwied district administration's homepage at www.kreis-neuwied.de. For those who prefer to contact via email, the press and public relations department can be reached at [email protected].

Violence in any form, whether emotional, physical, sexual, or financial, is fundamentally unacceptable and violates the right to physical integrity guaranteed in the Basic Law. In 2023, the Federal Criminal Police Office reported an increase in the number of domestic violence cases, with 256,276 people being victims. Domestic violence affects all social classes and has far-reaching societal consequences, incurring high costs for therapies and the prosecution and enforcement of penalties.

The project's goal is to ensure that everyone in the Neuwied District understands the severity of violence against women and is empowered to take a stand against it. By speaking out and standing up, the community can help create a safer and more equal society for all.

The following health-and-wellness campaign in the Neuwied District, Germany, focuses on women's health as part of the efforts to eliminate violence against women. This project, running from 15 November to 25 November, aims to promote science-backed knowledge about the causes and effects of violence against women and to foster a healthy shift in societal attitudes.
