Stryker's Synchfix EVT Revolutionizes Ankle Injury Treatment with Award-Winning Design

Stryker has unveiled Synchfix EVT, a next-generation device designed for ankle stabilisation. The system has already earned recognition, winning the Red Dot Design Award for its innovative approach. It targets soft tissue and bone fixation in cases of ankle syndesmosis injuries, with or without fractures.

The company is now presenting the device at the 2026 American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Annual Meeting, where live demonstrations will highlight its key features.

Synchfix EVT first entered the market in Europe in 2023 after receiving CE marking approval. Clinical trials, including the EVT-Synchfix study (2022–2024), involved 120 patients across multiple centres. Results showed a 95% technical success rate and low complications after 12 months. Additional case series published in the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery further supported its safety in related treatments.

The device simplifies surgical procedures compared to earlier models. Its all-in-one design includes integrated suture tensioning handles and allows for one-handed implant deployment. This reduces procedural complexity while maintaining flexibility and stability. Notably, Synchfix EVT is the first flexible fixation system approved for adolescent use in ankle syndesmotic injuries.

Stryker's Foot & Ankle division has emphasised its commitment to advancing soft tissue solutions. The sterile, single-use system eliminates the need for knots, offering surgeons greater ease and precision during operations. The company's focus remains on improving patient outcomes through streamlined, next-generation technologies.

Synchfix EVT is now available for clinical use, backed by published evidence and regulatory approvals. The device's introduction at ACFAS 2026 provides surgeons with hands-on experience of its features. Its design and flexibility aim to enhance recovery for patients with complex ankle injuries.
