Survivor of Brutal Attack Shares Harrowing Story to Warn Others
A woman left severely disfigured after a violent attack by her former partner has spoken out about her ordeal. Oksana B. appeared on the popular Russian talk show Pust Govoryat to share her story with millions, hoping to raise awareness about abusive relationships. The assault, carried out with a wrench, cost her an eye and left her facing years of reconstructive surgery. Oksana B. met Nikolai A. after a painful divorce, believing he would bring stability and happiness. Over time, he began isolating her from friends and family, cutting her off from her support network. When she finally tried to leave, he stalked and threatened her, escalating the abuse.
The violence peaked in a brutal attack where Nikolai struck her in the face with a wrench. The injury was so severe that she lost her right eye. Since then, she has undergone multiple surgeries to rebuild her eye socket, with more procedures ahead, including the fitting of an ocular prosthesis. Nikolai A. was later detained and placed in pretrial detention. Meanwhile, Oksana has continued to recover, often seen with medical dressings covering part of her face.
