Survivor of Deadly Swiss Bar Fire Shares Her Harrowing Journey to Healing
A devastating fire at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana on New Year's Eve 2025/2026 left 41 people dead and 116 injured. Among the survivors, Roze still grapples with the trauma, struggling with nightmares and sleepless nights months after the disaster.
The blaze caused severe burns to 83 victims, including Roze, who spent 17 days in a coma and faced multiple surgeries. Now, she is determined to share her story to ensure the tragedy is never forgotten.
Roze recalls the moment flames spread across the bar's ceiling. The exit was packed, making escape difficult. Once outside, she ran to a nearby car, pleading with the occupants to call emergency services.
Her injuries were severe. Doctors performed two skin grafts on her hands and treated burns on her face, while her lower back was left to heal naturally. The physical recovery has been gruelling, with more surgeries and therapies ahead.
Since the fire, Roze has battled nightmares and a deep fear of being alone at night. To cope, she spoke to Swiss French-language broadcaster RTS, hoping that recounting the event would help preserve her memory despite the trauma.
Now, she is considering a return to the scene. Laying flowers and meeting other survivors might bring some peace amid the lingering pain.
The fire at Le Constellation remains one of the deadliest incidents in recent Swiss history. Roze's journey—marked by surgeries, therapy, and emotional struggles—reflects the long road ahead for many survivors. Her decision to revisit the site underscores the lasting impact of that night on those who lived through it.
