Swiggy Sees Surge in Demand for Protein-Rich Meals
Swiggy, a leading online food delivery platform in India, is witnessing a surge in demand for high protein foods. The company's Vice President, Deepak Maloo, has confirmed this trend, attributing it to a growing awareness and positive user response towards healthier eating options.
Swiggy has been proactive in catering to this shift. It has collaborated with popular partners such as McDonald's, Dr. Diet, and Caterspoint to validate and facilitate the transition towards protein-focused meals. The platform has introduced innovative features to simplify the discovery of these high protein foods for users with specific dietary needs.
Swiggy's High Protein category, now available in over 160 cities, offers a wide range of options with more than 1 million protein-rich dishes across 1.4 lakh restaurants. This category has seen over 2.4 million customers transact in the past month, indicating its popularity. To further enhance this experience, Swiggy has partnered with HealthifyMe to provide users with even more high protein food options.
In addition to the High Protein category, Swiggy has added three new subcategories: Low Cal, No Fry, and Gluten Free. The Low Cal range features dishes under 400 kcal, making it easier for users to maintain their calorie intake. The No Fry category highlights grilled, roasted, and steamed items, while the Gluten Free subcategory focuses on millet, quinoa, and other grain alternatives. These additions simplify the discovery process for users with specific dietary requirements.
Swiggy's expansion of its High Protein category and the introduction of new subcategories reflect the growing demand for healthier eating options in India. With over 2.4 million customers opting for high protein foods last month, it is clear that users are increasingly conscious of their nutritional intake. Swiggy's partnerships with popular brands and health-focused platforms like HealthifyMe further cement its commitment to catering to this evolving consumer preference.
