Swiss Air-Rescue Rega hits record 20,463 missions in 2025

Swiss Air-Rescue (Rega) saw a busy year in 2025, completing 20,463 missions across Switzerland and abroad. The organisation assisted 13,168 patients by air, marking a notable rise in operations compared to previous years.

Rega's helicopter missions reached 15,265 in 2025, a 3.7 percent increase from the year before. Rescue operations at accident sites grew, while hospital transfers declined. Beyond emergencies, the service also supported mountain rescuers and transported livestock.

The organisation's three ambulance jets flew 1,049 missions during the year. Additionally, Rega arranged 310 medical escort flights on scheduled airlines. Abroad, 2,590 people relied on their services.

Overall, the 2025 mission count was seven percent higher than the five-year average. On average, Rega transported 36 patients each day.

Rega's 2025 figures highlight a steady demand for medical air rescue. With more helicopter deployments and a rise in international assistance, the service remains a key provider of emergency care. The data reflects both increased activity and a broader range of operations.
