Tech giant Apple shifts to a (red) hue in support of World AIDS Day visibility
In the spirit of the holiday season, Apple is offering new ways for customers to support the Global Fund and raise awareness about the battle to end HIV/AIDS.
Apple has partnered with (RED) to mark World AIDS Day, a global health awareness day that takes place on the 1st of December each year. This partnership aims to raise visibility for the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS and to provide access to healthcare services for millions in sub-Saharan Africa.
One of the ways Apple is supporting this cause is through the sale of its (PRODUCT)RED products. A portion of the proceeds from every (PRODUCT)RED purchase goes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS and mitigate the impact of COVID-19. This year, the best range of (PRODUCT)RED products are available across iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone SE, and Apple Watch Series 8. Apple also offers a variety of (PRODUCT)RED accessories, including Silicone Cases with MagSafe for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and Apple Watch Sport Loop, Sport Band, and Braided Solo Loop bands.
Apple Books features curated collections of books and audiobooks about the global fight against HIV/AIDS. On the App Store, customers can learn about Preppy, an app that helps people affected by HIV manage their PrEP intake and schedule. Apple TV app users can explore a collection of shows and movies that highlight the human cost of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
In Tanzania, the impact of Apple's efforts is evident. Neema, a woman from the Maasai community, received care and support from Apple's efforts and gave birth to an HIV-free baby. Community health workers like Mama Esther, who provides in-home health services and encourages people to visit local clinics, have also benefited from Apple's support. Over 5 million HIV-positive mothers have been able to prevent passing the virus to their babies thanks to Apple's efforts.
Funding from the Global Fund also supports community health workers like Mama Esther in rural communities. Over 11 million people have received care and support services due to Apple and its customers' efforts. Apple Music features a special selection of music programming, radio episodes, and more for subscribers to recognise World AIDS Day.
The company that has supported the Global Fund since 2006 is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has provided over US$4 billion to fight AIDS and has also contributed funds to COVID-19 protection efforts.
Around the world, hundreds of Apple Store locations are marking World AIDS Day with new window and product displays. Apple Watch users can download seven red faces from Apple's website to raise awareness for World AIDS Day. Apple Media Helpline contact information is available at media.help@our website.
This holiday season, join Apple in supporting the Global Fund and the fight against HIV/AIDS. Together, we can make a difference.
