Teen arrested with fake prescription in €1,000 weight-loss drug scam
An 18-year-old woman was caught trying to obtain an expensive weight-loss injection with a fake prescription in Osnabrück on Friday. Pharmacy staff raised the alarm just after 10:15 AM, leading to her immediate arrest at the scene.
The woman attempted to collect a prescription-only medication valued at over €1,000. Staff at the pharmacy grew suspicious and contacted the police.
Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence pointing to a possible accomplice. A dark-coloured Audi parked nearby was searched, revealing multiple forged prescriptions, payment documents, an extra mobile phone, and stolen medication. A 27-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was taken into provisional detention. Investigators suspect the pair may be connected to at least two other similar incidents in Osnabrück. However, no further details on additional cases have been confirmed. Both suspects were later released pending further investigation. Authorities stated there were insufficient grounds to hold them in custody while the case remains under active inquiry.
The investigation continues as police examine the seized items and potential links to other prescription fraud attempts. The pharmacy's quick action prevented the illegal acquisition of the medication, and no charges have yet been filed against the suspects.
