The gripping third installment of the Dubai Food Safety Forum unfolded recently, in harmony with World Food Safety Day, themed this year as "Food Safety: Science in Action."

This thought-provoking gathering saw the attendance of representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the UAE, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and a myriad of influential voices from public and private sector entities, along with educational institutions.

The Forum delved into strategic topics centering on the vital role of science in crafting food safety policies and risk management. Conversations revolved around the efficacy of scientific surveillance systems in propelling food supply chain resilience. Meanwhile, they addressed the empowerment of consumers to make informed choices based on sustainability. It's clear that Dubai Municipality is tirelessly committed to fostering a robust, integrated food system that prioritizes public health and long-term food security.

The proceedings of the Forum unveiled that registration is now open for the monumental 19th edition of the Dubai International Food Safety Conference, slated for November 17–19, 2025, at the bustling Dubai World Trade Centre.

In partnership with the FAO, the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), this conference stands as the region's most significant food safety platform. It's projected to welcome over 3,000 attendees from numerous global locations, including thought leaders, researchers, educational institutions, regulatory bodies, and private sector masters of the craft. Abstract submissions for the scientific programme are currently being accepted at foodsafetydubai.com.

To celebrate World Food Safety Day, Dubai Municipality initiated the second incarnation of the Dubai Food Elite programme. This initiative salutes excellence in food safety, nutrition, sustainability, innovation, and social responsibility across the food establishments of Dubai.

Aiming to surpass the achievements of the initial programme, this year's edition intends to encompass more than 500 establishments and fortify the culture of excellence in Dubai's vibrant food sector. Applications will commence on June 15, with the winners to be unveiled during the Dubai International Food Safety Conference.
