Mysterious Substance Sparks Health Crisis at DHL Center, Nuremberg
Twelve staff members experienced skin ailments at the DHL Center
An alarming situation unfolded at a DHL distribution center in Langenzenn, close to Nuremberg, when employees started reporting strange skin issues. At least eight of them were rushed to dermatologists as a precautionary measure. The center was temporarily shut down for safety reasons.
A white powder was found sticking to several packages in the facility, leading authorities to suspect a toxic substance. Firefighters and law enforcement personnel are currently collecting samples for analysis while simultaneously examining the affected employees to gather insights.
It remains uncertain whether the powder adhered to the packages internally or if it originated from an external source. The packages carrying the powder were not sent by the same sender, according to district fire chief Frank Stegmann.
The building was evacuated, and a decontamination shower was set up. Around 35 individuals underwent a thorough washing process as a precaution to wash off any harmful substances that might have come in contact with them. Authorities clarified that the public was not in any danger.
The incident is being viewed against a broader backdrop of alleged sabotage attempts targeting DHL facilities. There have been past incidents where packages exploded at various DHL depots, with some investigations suggesting the involvement of operatives possibly connected to foreign entities. However, it is too early to determine whether this recent incident is related to those past occurrences.
